TUTORIAL: HOW TO CHANGE THE HARD DRIVE OF THE PLAYSTATION 4

Why and how to change the hard drive of its PlayStation 4? This is the question we will answer with our colleagues at CNET who made a nice video demonstration. You will see, it is not that difficult if you follow all the steps.

Why change the hard drive of his PS4?

Two main reasons may encourage you to change the hard drive still functional PlayStation 4 . The first is to put another of larger capacity to accommodate more games and multimedia content. The other reason is to gain speed at startup and load times with a higher speed.
Prerequisites  :
  • USB key
  • Download from the website PlayStation firmware that will reinstall the system on the new hard drive.
  • Al on USB key, create a "PlayStation" directory at the root and a subdirectory "Update" in which you must update the software that you downloaded

Reinstall the system on the new hard drive

Once you have everything back as it should be:
  • Plug the USB drive into one of the two ports of the PlayStation 4
  • Hold down between 5 and 10 seconds on the start button to access the Advanced Startup Menu
  • On your screen, choose "reset the PS4 [reinstall the software system]" the last option
  • You just have to configure the console as when you turned it on for the first time.
The video tutorial also shows the execution of multiple tasks with different speed drives, including the 500 GB 5400 rpm / min of origin . The startup time is faster with an SSD. However, copy a game like Battlefield 4 on the disc or run the game is not necessarily much faster. The ability seems to focus on the speed of the disk to have a real interest in change and not ruin a high-capacity SSD.
Will you try your luck on your PS4 or have you already done? What gains did you get?
